He was born in Antalya Akseki in 1947. After his primary and secondary education, he graduated from Antalya Imam-Hatip School.
After completing his higher education at Konya Higher Islamic Institute, Küçük worked as a teacher and administrator at Erzurum Imam-Hatip School for four years in 1975. He worked as a lecturer in the fields of hadith and Islamic ethics at Erzurum Higher Islamic Institute.
Raşit Küçük started his doctoral studies at Erzurum Atatürk University, Faculty of Islamic Sciences in 1978. For the acceptance of his doctorate, he presented two separate studies titled “Abdullah Ibn al-Mubarak and his place in the science of hadith” and “Authors of the Second Century Hijri”.
Küçük, who also held administrative positions, was appointed to Istanbul Higher Islamic Institute.
He completed his doctorate in 1984 with his thesis titled “The Concept of Love in the Qur’an and Sunnah: Especially the Love of Allah” at Marmara University Institute of Social Sciences, where he transferred to, and was named associate professor in 1997 and professor in 2003.
Prof. Dr. Raşit Küçük served as a member of the Marmara University Senate and the Marmara University Board of Directors, as a member and chairman of the National Committee of Theology of the Council of Higher Education, and as the chairman of the Higher Education Council Foreign Theology Field Equivalency Sub-Commission.
Küçük, who started to serve as the chairman of the High Board of Religious Affairs of the Presidency of Religious Affairs in 2011, retired from the institution in 2014. In 2014, he served as the President of ISAM and ISAR. Küçük, who participated in the establishment of İSAR and was a member of the board of trustees, took an active role in the process of re-establishing the foundation of Abdullah Tivnikli Foundation and served as the president of the foundation until 22 November 2022, when he passed away.
